Correct Application Methods and Dosage Guide of EDTA Chelated Magnesium

2026-10-22

EDTA chelated magnesium is fully water-soluble and fast-absorbing, and can be applied in various ways to adapt to different planting scenarios and crop growth stages. Scientific application can maximize fertilizer efficiency.

  1. Foliar Spray: Dilute by 1000-1500 times and spray evenly on both sides of leaves. It is the preferred method for emergency correction of magnesium deficiency. Apply mainly during rapid crop growth and fruit expansion stages, avoid high temperature at noon. It is recommended to combine with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to synergistically improve photosynthetic efficiency and fruit quality.

  2. Drip Irrigation / Fertigation: Apply with irrigation water at a dosage of 0.8-1.5 kg per mu, suitable for large-scale planting such as fields, orchards and greenhouse vegetables. It can continuously provide active magnesium to roots, improve rhizosphere magnesium supply, and prevent tree vigor decline caused by long-term magnesium deficiency.

  3. Hydroponics / Soilless Culture: Added according to nutrient solution formula, with a conventional concentration of 30-50mg magnesium per liter of nutrient solution. It can avoid magnesium ion precipitation in nutrient solution and ensure magnesium nutrition supply throughout the crop growth cycle. It is the standard magnesium source for hydroponic systems.

  4. Fertilizer Compounding: It can be compounded with macronutrient water-soluble fertilizers, amino acid fertilizers, humic acid fertilizers, etc. Avoid direct high-concentration mixing with high-concentration phosphate and carbonate fertilizers to prevent precipitation caused by excessive local concentration.

EDTA magnesium is widely applicable to fruit trees such as citrus, grape and apple, fruits and vegetables such as tomato, cucumber and strawberry, as well as leafy vegetables and field cash crops.
